Singer-songwriter Eddie Witz's story is one of resilience, transformation, and the redemptive power of music. His path to healing began unexpectedly, as a shingles attack stemming from personal trauma led to the rare condition known as Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, leaving him with partial paralysis on the right side of his face, head, and neck. Instead of succumbing to despair, Eddie embraced his journey with courage and creativity.

 

Fueled by a newfound sense of purpose, Eddie immersed himself in the world of music, channeling his experiences into soul-stirring melodies and poignant lyrics. His debut album, "I Am What I Am” is set to release on July 5 th , 2024, and embodies his journey of self-discovery and transformation.

 

“I Am What I Am” is a deeply personal chronicle of Eddie Witz’s voyage of self-discovery and maturation. The album explores themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the transformative power of healing through music. Aiming to uplift spirits, it’s a celebration of self-acceptance, embracing life’s ups and downs, and encouraging compassion. Drawing inspiration from musical luminaries such as Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and John Butler, Eddie Witz crafts a distinctive and captivating auditory experience.

 

Eddie Witz's first single, "My Island," released in October, 2023, quickly captured the hearts of listeners, reaching #3 nationally on the college radio charts in the USA & Canada, and spins regularly on Jamaica’s top radio station, IRIE FM. Its infectious rhythms and uplifting lyrics continue to resonate, also earning regular rotation on Sirius/XM coveted Vacation Radio Channel.

 

Eddie's musical journey is enriched by collaborations with industry titans, including multi-Grammyaward-winning Jamaican producers Native Wayne Jobson and Brian Jobson, and legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame songwriter and producer Jeff Barry (Chapel of Love). “I Am What I Am” features notable musicians such as the iconic drumming and percussion of Sly Dunbar (Bob Marley, Bob Dylan) of Sly and Robbie fame and the acclaimed Jamaican keyboardist Robbie Lyn, best known for his work with Peter Tosh and Third World. “My Island” is a #1 smash global hit,” said Sly Dunbar. Additional musicians featured on the album include Randy Cooke (Smash Mouth, Kelly Clarkson, Five for Fighting) on drums and Steve Fekete (Gwen Stefani Avril Lavigne” on guitar.
